Ever stood in the kitchen eating cold stuffing straight out of a Tupperware with a fork you didn’t technically wash? Me neither. 👀 If I’m not careful, Thanksgiving and Christmas will just merge into one long, buttery carb fog. It would be so easy to just pull on a few extra layers, kiss your wellness routines goodbye, and press the Eff-It Button until January.
(If that’s your plan, no shame, do it with confidence.)
But here’s what I noticed after just two days off my normal rhythm: My energy tanked. My body felt sluggish. My skin looked dull. My bathroom routine…nevermind.
And that’s when I remembered: Oh right. I actually feel really good when I fuel myself well.
This is exactly why I created one of my favorite habit hacks of all time: The Reset Ritual.
When I’ve had an indulgent weekend, this is my got-to ritual that gets me back to myself without drama or shame (shame is not a strategy):
1. Fuel: Order groceries.
Not tomorrow. Right now. The act of placing the order is the reset.
2. Move: Nail the next rep.
This Monday morning’s gym class might be the most important workout of my entire week—not because of the calories, but because of the tone it sets.
No movement routine to resume? Try this low-effort version instead: Listen to a podcast about wellness. I’m not kidding—you don’t even have to move today. Just by consuming content about movement, your brain starts quietly rehearsing it. It will influence you into thinking about what kind of movement you might actually enjoy this week.
3. Mental Load Brain Dump + Calendar Audit.
Dump everything swirling in your brain onto paper. Then double-check your calendar so nothing ambushes you. (Example: I just realized my kids have dentist appointments this week, and I’m thrilled I remembered today and not five minutes beforehand.)
If you’ve felt a little wobbly coming out of Thanksgiving, consider this your official permission slip to reset—not punish, not restrict, just reset.

“It’s never too late to start over. If you weren’t happy with yesterday, try something different today.”
I always thought it might be fun to watch a Chiefs Game ON the iconic KC plaza and we did just that before the Thanksgiving Lighting Ceremony. (Just don't think too hard about how the game ended....shhh)
The man followed Chef Gordon Ramsey's turkey tutorial and it will go down in history as the greatest butteriest turkey i've ever tasted. I'm hoping for weekly turkey roasts now. 🤞 No? Too far?
The family came to my studio Sunday and I got to photograph THEM for a change. How fun!
I was left a very sweet note on my office door from my 8-year-old. ☺️🥹
After hitting rock bottom, I've embarked on a radical journey. For one year, I'm taking a break from all cynicsm and trying out some crazy self-improvement experiments (so you don't have to.)
